Welcome to The Dine, Wine & Spirits Show with host, Bryan Dias.

On today’s show, we welcome Chef/Owner Michael Gulotta (pictured here) of Mopho Mid-City and Maypop Restaurant. It’s a really fun and interesting chat with this accomplished member of our culinary community here in New Orleans! We talk about his background coming up with some of the most noted chefs in the region, time spent overseas, and his experiences post-Katrina. We also talk about how he got into cooking and much more. We taped the segment at Maypop.

We also talk with Toshio Ueno of Mutual Trading Co., Inc. that imports Japanese products, namely Sake, Shochu, and foodstuffs. We focus on the interesting category of Shochu. Toshio is a Sake sommelier, teacher, and an interesting guy to chat with. We taste a couple delicious Shochu selections. This was one of many guests we chatted with during Tales.

We open the show with some news on the restaurant business here in New Orleans and also talk a bit about Tales of the Cocktail – just some thoughts – with much more to come on future shows!
