The New Orleans Hornets have finally gotten their man. After attempting to sign Morris Peterson three years ago, the Bees diligence was rewarded today. Peterson has have agreed in principle to a deal that will pay him $23 million over a four-year contract.
Peterson, who will be entering his eighth season in the NBA, averaged 8.9 points and 3.3 rebounds for the Toronto Raptors this past season. He played in 71 games, starting 12, and shot 36 percent from three-point range, a specialty that the Hornets will rely on heavily from Peterson. The 6'7, 201 pound shooting guard is expected to fill a starting role at that position for New Orleans, resulting in Peja Stojakovic likely moving to small forward, if healthy. The Hornets signed Peterson to an offer sheet in 2004 but the Raptors matched it to retain him at that time. |
