New Orleans, LA (WGSO) - Ken Trahan - WGSO has learned that Buzz Williams has resigned after just one season on the job as the head basketball coach at UNO. Williams is leaving to become an assistant coach at Marquette University under Tom Crean.

Williams, who came to UNO from Texas A&M where he had served as an assistant under Billy Gillespie, posted a 14-17 in his one season with the Privateers. He becomes the second UNO head coach in two seasons to depart the Lakefront campus for a job as an assistant elsewhere. Monte Towe departed UNO for North Carolina State after the 2005-2006 season, where he now serves as an assistant to Sidney Lowe.
