WGSO NEWSLETTER FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 11 PDF Print E-mail
By Ken Trahan
Friday, April 11 2008
Good morning and welcome to our weekly newsletter from your friends at WGSO, 990 AM. This is our continuing effort to keep you posted on what has been occurring at WGSO and to keep you informed on what is to come. WEEKLY ACCOMPLISHMENTS
**Jeff Crouere had a telling conversation with Frank Gaffney from the Center for
Security Policy this morning. Earlier in the week, Jeff recapped the First
Congressional District Republican runoff in which Steve Scalise advanced
in convincing fashion to the general election in May.
**Ken Trahan and Ed Daniels (WGNO-TV, WGSO) landed arguably the biggest
scoop of the year by breaking the story of LSU hiring Trent Johnson as their
new head basketball coach. The story appeared on websites and newspapers
throughout the state and region, giving credit to WGSO, 990 AM.
**Ed Clancy landed a visit from former New Orleans television broadcaster Charles
Zewe and will be with Harry Connick, Sr. this afternoon at Andrea's Northern
Italian Cuisine in Metairie. Ed continues to anchor the WGSO News at Noon
   in solid fashion.
**Terry Easley continues with the WGSO Morning News Hour from 6-7 AM Monday-
Friday with news, features, traffic, sports, weather and more.
**Bernie Cyrus talked with Milena Merrill of NOLA.com, with Mayor Protem Trilby
Lenfant of Mandeville, and Brian Gowland of Abita Opry while providing strong
commentary on the Catholic Church consolidations and eliminations throughout
   the New Orleans area.
**Jude Young (Second String), George & Emmanuel Pepis, along with Johnny
Marchese (Prep Plus), Kenny Farrell and Gary Ostroske (Shell Shocker Soccer
Hour), and Kevin Ford (Talkin' Tigers, Louisiana Sportsman Live) continue their
weekly shows in outstanding fashion during the sports block segment from 6-10 PM.
**Of course, UNO baseball takes precedent at night and on weekends when they
are playing. The Privateers are ranked among the nation's top 60 teams and host
a big weekend series against Western Kentucky starting tonight with all games
being broadcast on your station for Privateer sports, WGSO, 990 AM and at
   WGSO.com.
**The WGSO Cash Vault will be at Hood Northlake Chevrolet with Bernie Cyrus
from 11 AM-1 PM this Saturday and at Adventure Pets in Mandeville with
Nancy Nolan from 2-4 PM with your chance to win $9,990 if you can enter
the correct six-digit code to the WGSO Cash Vault, courtesy of your friends
    at WGSO, 990 AM & at WGSO.com.

ATTA BOY
**Jeff Crouere and Ken Trahan served as Celebrity Waiters at the annual St.
Paul's High School Celebrity Waiters Dinner in Covington. With a sellout
crowd on hand, significant revenue was generated with Saints Head Coach
Sean Payton raising $30,000 for a deluxe Saints package, including a trip
to London to see the Saints play the Chargers.
**Jeff Crouere did his Ringside Politics With a Punch show (7-11 AM) live
from the historic Monteleone Hotel in downtown New Orleans this past
   Thursday.
**Ed Clancy had a ball at the Rib Room of the Omni Royal Orleans with his
talk show (1-3 PM) a week ago.
**Congratulations to Brother Martin High School for their 14-8 marathon win
over Archbishop Rummel in a game heard on WGSO, 990 AM and at WGSO.com
with Ken Trahan and Danny Reihm. The next Rummel broadcast is when the
Raiders face Jesuit on Saturday, April 19 at 7 PM on WGSO, 990 AM and
   at WGSO.com.

**The Anne Dale Show debuts this Saturday morning at 9:30 AM on WGSO. Anne
Dale is a successful jeweler and is very active in the community and will share
positive news each and every week.
**This Sunday, WGSO debuts the live service of Grace Memorial Baptist Church
on Gause Blvd. in Slidell from 10:30-11:30 AM.
**Don't forget the WGSO Legal Show with Russell Stegeman Saturday morning
    at 8:30 AM.
**WGSO debuts "The Turning Point" with author and evangelist Dr. David Jeremiah
on Monday, April 14 and every weekday at 5:30 AM and at 11:30 PM and on
    Sunday mornings at 8:30 AM.

is located on Highway 59 in Mandeville, right by Fountainebleau High School.
