WGSO NEWSLETTER FOR MARCH 14, 2008 PDF Print E-mail
By Ken Trahan
Friday, March 14 2008
Good morning and welcome to our weekly newsletter from your friends at WGSO, 990 AM. It has been another week of progress at WGSO and we thank you for your continued support in helping to make WGSO the very best it can be! WEEKLY ACCOMPLISHMENTS
**Our weekly live restaurant shows with Ed Clancy continue today as Ed broadcasts live from Andrea's in Metairie. Ed will have Chef Andrea Apuzzo and entertainer Chris Ownes on the show. Ed enjoyed dining at the Rib Room with Dainya Jay last week!
**Ed also had an outstanding interview with Senator Mary Landrieu with provocative questions about Governor Elliott Spitzer and Senator David Vitter.
*Jeff Crouere chased down the story of Kenner Councilwoman Michele Branigan in compromising photographs and aired audio of Barack Obama's Pastor which was controversial, to say the least.
**Jeff also has an outstanding guest in Frank Gaffney of the Center for Security Policy on the resignation of the top military commander in Iraq this morning.
**Bernie Cyrus had Captain Kevin Foltz of the Slidell Police Department talking about the unfortunate child abuse at Abney Elementary School and visited with Cheryl Klein of Tobacco Free America.
**Bernie Cyrus will also visit with Jeff Carreras of Parasol's this afternoon on their big Irish Party surrounding St. Patrick's Day.
**Ken Trahan had a visit with the nation's top NFL draft analyst, Mike Mayock of NFL Network, spoke with New Orleans VooDoo quarterback Danny Wimprine, & chatted with former New Orleans Saint Chuck Muncie.
**Ken Trahan & Michael Green landed Hall of Fame jockey Pat Day on the Life Resources Bottom Line Sports Hour.
**Ken Trahan & Ed Daniels spoke with New Orleans Hornets General Manager Jeff Bower on the Three Tailgaters Show.
**Jude Young had an enlightening visit with New Orleans Hornets owner George Shinn on The Second String.
**George and Emmanuel Pepis and Johnny Marchese wrapped up an outstanding season of coverage of the prep basketball season on Prep Plus.
**Tim McNally continues fine work on the WGSO Wine Show as he visits with winemaker Bob Blue on organically produced wines.
**Sarah Dunn returns with an abbreviated version of Art Evolution tomorrow at 3 PM. Sarah also unveiled a great display of her work at "LA vs. LA" last weekend in downtown Covington with entertainment, glass jewelry, and more.
**Chef Buster Ambrosia continues with great recipes from 9-11 AM Sunday mornings and he will be at the Chef Soiree with live call-ins from the Hood Northlake Chevrolet tent at Bogue Falaya Park this Sunday evening.
**David Dubos continues with his fine Movie Talk Show on Saturdays at Noon and makes guest appearances on the Jeff Crouere Show and during the WGSO News Hours.

ATTA BOY
**WGSO's Jude Young did a heartwarming feature this past Wednesday. In the process, a lifelong dream was realized by a huge fan of WGSO's Archie Manning. After being contacted by Frank Slipher, owner of WGSO sponsor Caffe Fresca, Ken Trahan asked WGSO's Archie Manning to fulfill the dream of 90-year old Frona Oestricher, who wanted to meet her hero. Archie graciously surprised Frona at Caffe Fresca, Jude interviewed both, and thus began the WGSO Bucket List Wish. If you have a "Bucket List Wish" you would like to see fulfilled for a senior citizen regarding sports, contact Ken Trahan at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or Jude Young at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
**WGSO's Jeff Crouere, Ed Daniels, and Ken Trahan all served as Celebrity Waiters at the first annual Torah Academy Celebrity Waiters Luncheon at the Foundry in downtown New Orleans last weekend. Jeff auctioned off an appearance on both his radio show and his television show on WLAE television for $2,000! WGSO Business Manager Mary Latter was in attendance with her "terrific Tom" and much fun was had!
**Ed Daniels and Ken Trahan served as Celebrity Waiters at the annual Archbishop Shaw Celebrity Waiters Luncheon at the Alario Center in Westwego this past Thursday. Over 750 people were in attendance and Shaw raised an estimated $100,000 from the event.
**Ken Trahan spoke at the Oak Park Baptist Church monthly men's luncheon and shared on WGSO.
**Ken Trahan also spoke at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Men's Club about sports and WGSO and received an honorary membership and polo shirt in the process.
**Ed Daniels also spoke at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Men's Club about sports, WGNO-TV, and WGSO Radio and received an honorary membership and polo shirt.
**Bernie Cyrus will be live at Hood Northlake Chevrolet in Covington with live call-ins to WGSO tomorrow from 2-4 PM. Bernie will also have the WGSO Cash Vault with him, providing a chance to a lucky visitor and WGSO listener to win $9,990! In addition, anyone that shows up between 2-4 PM at Hood Northlake Chevrolet can test drive a vehicle and receive 10 gallons of gas for 99 cents each just by test-driving a vehicle!
**Chef Buster Ambrosia appears live at the Chef's Soiree at Bogue Falaya Park Sunday night with live call-ins to WGSO between 5-8 PM. Buster will be located in the Hood Northlake Chevrolet tent.
