MANDEVILLE - Today marks the kickoff of the planned boat ramp repair at the Mandeville port.
If you’re looking to spread your sails and go where the wind takes you this weekend, don’t plant to launch your boat from Mandeville because the much-needed Jackson Avenue boat ramp repairs are now underway. Authorities said the project should be done within 90 days. “Those three ramps will be completely blocked off and isolated. At the end of Jackson you could probably launch a very small sailboat,” Director of Public Works David DeGeneres said. DeGeneres told WGSO that the reason for the repair is that the tides have brought so much silt into the area over the past few years that launching a regular sized boat is not possible. So take those fences warning you to keep out as a sign to head for clearer waters. |
