By Ken Trahan
Friday, February 29 2008
Good morning and welcome to our weekly newsletter from your friends at WGSO, 990 AM. It has been another week of progress at WGSO and we thank you for your continued support in helping to make WGSO the very best it can be!  WEEKLY ACCOMPLISHMENTS
**Our weekly live restaurant shows with Ed Clancy continue today as Ed indulges at Muriel's at Jackson Square. His special guests will include Sally Ann Roberts of Channel Four and former Lieutenant Governor Jimmy Fitzmorris. Last week, Ed consumed massive calories at Sucre while next week, he will fatten up at the Rib Room.
**Jeff Crouere had substantive visits with Major General Jerry Curry on the Iraq war and with congressional candidate Ben Morris.
**Bernie Cyrus asked the tough questions of first district congressional front-runner Steve Scalise and today has a 25th anniversary visit in-studio with the Topcats, a New Orleans-area institution.
**Ken Trahan previewed the New Orleans VooDoo season which opens tonight with VooDoo head coach Mike Neu and had "the one-man volleyball team," Bob Holmes on the Life Resources Bottom Line Sports Hour. Hall of Fame jockey Pat Day pays a visit next Thursday night.
**The substance, story count, and information continues to grow with the WGSO Morning News Hour with News Director Terry Easley and the WGSO News at Noon with Ed Clancy and Terry Easley.
**Tim McNally of the Wine Show will visit with Elaine Honig, who has a new charitable cause called  "Wine, Women, and Shoes" this Sunday morning at 11 AM.
**David Dubos previewed the Academy Awards on Movie Talk and hit on nearly every prediction.
**Fantasy Frenzy with Scott Tracy, George and Emmanuel Pepis, Johnny Marchese, and Brandon Rizzuto returns this Saturday at 5 PM after a hiatus. The boys will soon turn their attention to baseball and fantasy leagues.
**Meredith Mendez has taken a leave of absence from Sunday Source but continues with her excellent daily Northshore reports in WGSO News.
**Joe Luna continues his solid reporting on Northshore stories within the WGSO News brand.
**Jude Young pinch-hit for Terry Easley this past Thursday in hosting the WGSO Morning News in seamless fashion. Jude continues his fine work as the afternoon news anchor, sports talk host, and webmaster.

ATTA BOY
**Congratulations to Harry Finch for being promoted to General Manager of WGSO. Harry has done an excellent job of expanding the WGSO sales effort and brings extensive experience in the industry to his new position.
**Congratulations to Kenny Farrell and Gary Ostroske of the Shell Shocker Soccer Hour for their very successful weekend series of professional soccer games with the United States national team, two Honduran national teams, and the Shell Shockers at Tad Gormley Stadium.

**Congratulations to the Loyola Wolfpack Women for clinching the GCAC regular season title.
**UNO poured 20 runs on Nicholls State in a 20-1 victory. You can hear the first of nearly all UNO baseball games tonight against Vermont at 6:05 PM on WGSO, 990 AM and at WGSO.com.
