Good morning and welcome to our weekly newsletter from your friends at WGSO, 990 AM. We are pleased to provide this update on the people that make WGSO what it is while revealing more about our personalities and hard-working employees.
WEEKLY ACCOMPLISHMENTS WGSO is moving forward on so many fronts--listen for our Valentine's Day promotion for all of our wonderful female listeners and their significant others who will provide for them on that romantic day. WGSO will also be staging another great gas bargain for you at a Top Fuel location in Slidell--stay tuned for details. WGSO personalities Bernie Cyrus (Weekdays 3-6 PM), Jeff Crouere (Weekdays 8-Noon), and Terry Easley (Weekdays 7-8 AM/Noon-1 PM) have or will take part in parades on the north shore. Look for Bernie (Orpheus) and Terry (Selene) tonight (Friday, February 1). Ed "The Diesel" Clancy (Weekdays 1-3 PM) continues his fine work on-air and maintains a sense of humor. David Dubos (Saturdays Noon-3 PM) had "Cloverfield" producer Bryan Burk on his Movie Talk Show. Nancy Nolan (Saturdays 9-10 AM) is set to talk about animal identification and to speak with a trainer about his actor/dog this Saturday morning. Tim McNally (Sunday 11 AM-1 PM) will speak with "The Sherry Wine Geek," among others, this Sunday. Archie Manning (Saturday 10 AM-Noon) does his final show of the fiscal year/football season with Ken Trahan & Ed Daniels to talk about his son, Eli, playing in the Super Bowl tomorrow morning. The Fantasy Frenzy (Saturday 5-7 PM) crew will review the Super Bowl value picks tomorrow. The Prep Plus (Friday 8-10 PM) crew is set to continue with basketball game updates plus the latest on the high school soccer playoffs and the upcoming state wrestling championships. Kevin Ford (Tuesday 8-9 PM) is a happy man--LSU finally won an SEC basketball game! Ken Trahan (Weeknights at 6 PM/Saturday at 10 AM) had six area wrestling coaches in-studio to preview the state wrestling championships. Les East (Wednesday at 6 PM) returns this coming Wednesday, February 6 after spending significant time covering the exciting and surprising New Orleans Hornets. ATTA BOY Kudos to Terry Easley (News Director) for getting on the murder of a New Orleans police officer and having sound on the air and published quickly at NOLA.com and at WGSO.com. Thanks to WGSO Meteorologist Mike Janssen of ABC 26 for providing continuous updates on the severe weather situation that existed on Thursday, January 1. You can watch Mike's "Weather Now" show weekdays from 6-7 AM on WGNO-TV. Thanks to Dainya Jay (Saturday 8-9 AM) and Emmanuel Pepis (Friday 8-10 PM, Saturday 5-7 PM) for doing an outstanding job in handling our morning shows for the past few weeks. Many thanks to Jayson Lee for his outstanding contribution to WGSO. We wish him nothing but success in all future ventures. To Michael Green & Ken Trahan (Life Resources Bottom Line Sports Hour) for being named to the committee of the Jefferson Parish President's Prayer Breakfast. To the Loyola Wolkfpack women, who are ranked 16th in the nation in the latest NAIA rankings and are undefeated in GCAC play. To the UNO women for having a break-through season and are poised to post a winning record. To Brandon Rizzuto (Saturday 5-7 PM) for doing an outstanding job of presenting sports information to all media entities from Nicholls State University. To Bernie Cyrus (Weekday 3-6 PM), whose new television show will debut soon. Stay tuned for details. To Sarah Dunn (Saturday 3-5 PM) who is working on a bold, big new painting--check it out by passing by her Art Gallery at 609 East Boston Street in Covington. To Mary Latter (Business Manager) for holding everything together at WGSO and doing so with a smile. To Jak Kunstler (General Manager) for graciously providing his truck for WGSO parade use and for having a sense of humor! ADDITIONS The WGSO Morning News Hour from 7-8 AM will debut on Monday, February 11 while the WGSO Noon News Hour from Noon-1 PM will debut on the same day, hosted by Terry Easley (News Director), with news reports from Jude Young (Weeknights at 8 or 9 PM), Joe Luna, Ed Clancy, Mandy Hamilton, and Meredith Mendez. The News Hours will also include sports with Ken Trahan and weather from Mike Janssen of ABC 26. There will be many other features on money, politics, and more, with special live guests.
