COVINGTON, La. - They’re going up and being remodeled all over the parish, but Covington officials gave WGSO a heads up on some of the unique features of theirs.
As Covington’s trailhead facility heads toward its grand opening it carries with it the promise of new economic stimulation to the downtown area.
“We all envisioned this as just kind of a place you stop on the trace and rest, but it’s really turned into a new economic engine for that section of town,” Council President Trey Blackall said. He told WGSO the trailhead facility will include the Economic Development Office, visitor center, amphitheater, open-air market, and a possible museum. So hold onto your hats Mandeville trailhead loyalists, there’s a new trailhead coming to town. Authorities said the facility is slated to be open by late April or early March. |
