COVINGTON, La. - St. Tammany Parish President Kevin Davis was sworn in Monday for his third and final term in office.
On the steps of the parish courthouse in downtown Covington, the 14 members of the new Parish Council also taking their oaths of office before a crowd of about 200 attendees.
The 52-year-old leader on the North Shore for the past 8 years has seen many changes.
Davis tells WGSO news that all of the un-incorporated areas of St. Tammany will be rezoned during his final term to conform with the new parish zoning codes adopted a year ago.
The long process of rezoning the parish is expected to begin next month.
Tammany Together invites the public to attend a presentation by St. Tammany Parish Director of Planning Sidney Fontenot on the parish’s comprehensive rezoning process at its quarterly General Membership Meeting on Monday, January 28, 2008.
Fontenot will discuss the new Unified Development Code, explain how the new code differs from the zoning code presently in effect, and how it will be applied across the parish. It is important that the citizens of St. Tammany understand this process so that they can be prepared to participate in this very important task.
The meeting will be held at the North Shore Unitarian Universalist church located at 28662 Krentel Road, just north of the intersection of I-12 and Highway 434 in Lacombe. Doors will open at 6:00 PM, and the meeting will begin at 6:30 PM.
