Galvez Street project nears completion PDF Print E-mail

MANDEVILLE, La. - After four years and 4 million dollars, you may not have to ride gondolas through the streets of Old Mandeville if the flood waters begin to rise.

“Instead of it going into mid Old Mandeville we’re taking half of the water that comes off Highway 190 and bringing it to the Galvez Street drainage ditch.” Mayor Eddie Price said.

Price told WGSO that the final phase of the project should be starting soon.

City officials hope it will be completed with the completion of the Highway 190 widening project later this year. So say goodbye to your friendly neighborhood construction workers.

Price said the drainage project will greatly relive the area of flood waters.
