MANDEVILLE, La. - Copal Street traffic congestion will soon come to an end now that the Causeway Commission has announced plans to fund a reconstruction project of the roadway near the North Causeway Approach.
Mayor Pro Tem Trilby Lenfant presented the commission’s plans to close off the cut-through in the area, which is the root of the traffic terror, at the last night’s city council meeting. Lenfant also endorsed the plan.
“Whenever there’s an issue we generally work together with the Causeway Commission to make things flow right and this is going to improve the traffic flow in that area,” she said.
Lenfant said that while it has been a nuisance to traffic for some time, this area has not produced any major accidents, and the potential is there for more serious problems.
She could not give any information on a project cost at this time or a projected start date because the proposal is still in its infancy. |
