MANDEVILLE, La. - Over two years after Hurricane Katrina hit the Louisiana coast, Mandeville is finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel for FEMA trailers within city limits.
Mandeville Mayor Eddie Price said the city petitioned the Parish government not to renew any waivers allowing the trailers refuge in the city unless absolutely necessary. In the time since that petition was passed, Mandeville has seen a significant drop in trailers within its borders.
“You got maybe 10 or 12 trailers out there,” Price said. “Four or five that really need to go and six or seven that really have a reason for staying.”
Price said those that have sufficient reasons as to why they still need the trailers will not be turned down for a renewal of their waivers.
The mayor reemphasized that those without good reason for the trailers should be prepared for their removal. |
