COVINGTON, La. - Beware of icy conditions heading into Fire District 12’s Northpark station Saturday as the district will be kicking off its eighth annual Christmas at the Firehouse Celebration with 20 tons of snow.
District 12 Spokesman Gwen Cancienne said the celebration, which will be complete with its own snow maker, is primarily a way to give back to the community, collect toys for local charities and educate the public in ways of fire prevention.
“Safety education, they’ll get a lot of that, they’re going to have a lot of material to hand out.” Cancienne said. “There’s going to be free food and drinks and free coloring books for the kids.”
She said Santa will arrive by fire truck and will be on hand for children to make their special Christmas gift requests.
District 12 will also be serving up free food and fun at the event which starts at 10am. |
