MANDEVILLE, La. - Authorities brought a small string of vehicle burglaries to an end Thanksgiving Day when they arrested a man who allegedly burglarized three vehicles in the Mariner’s Island area.
Mandeville Police Capt. Ron Ruple said 30-year-old Mandeville resident Jack Rameriz was found in the 300 block of Mariner’s Island in the back of a van with the stolen merchandise and several tablets of methadone.
Rameriz was charged with three counts of vehicle burglary, possession of a schedule two narcotic and taken to the St. Tammany Parish Prison.
Despite Rameriz apparent string of robberies that morning, Ruple does not believe the incidents are connected to any other Mandeville robberies at this time.
“You always wonder if you’re going to be able to clear up any more that he did,” he said. “In this case all we’re going to end up with, at least for right now is just the three that he did that early morning.”
Ruple said police returned the stolen merchandise to its rightful owners following the Rameriz arrest.
Police have not totally ruled out Rameriz' involvement in other burglaries. |
