I grew up about 20 minutes from Lexington, Kentucky, the heart of horse country. My whole life has been spent with having all the stray animals in the neighborhood beat a path to my door, as if there's an invisible sign that only the animals can understand that says "Are you homeless or hungry? There are warm beds and gourmet meals inside and it's free. Come on in!"
With a degree in fine art from Morehead State University, I spent about 20 years in advertising and publishing, before launching "Animal Magazine", a free publication that dealt with health and rescue issues for all animals in the greater New Orleans area, southwestern Mississippi and Baton Rouge. With the support of the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine and local veterinarians, "Animal Magazine" provided it's readers with all the latest information on health care for everything from reptiles, to cats, dogs and horses. We are proud of the fact that we published a hurricane and emergency guide each year, for two years prior to Katrina.
I've spent many years doing wildlife rescue and rehab with Clearwater Wildlife Sanctuary in Covington, in addition to my continued support of the local animal rescue groups in the area. I've had many different animals as pets, including cats, dogs, horses, goats, birds, a tortoise, an iguana, hamsters, a tarantula....surely there are others.
Besides my weekly radio show on WGSO, my business partners and I are now producing an online video news magazine, www.livingwithanimals.tv, that focuses on the human/animal bond. It's free so that you can visit it anytime. If you have questions or comments, e-mail me at
