BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) _ An attorney says Memorial Medical Center employees will appeal a court ruling that would reveal much of the attorney general's investigation into deaths of patients at the hospital after Hurricane Katrina.
New Orleans attorney Eddie Castaing's clients include one of the nurses who were accused of murder by Attorney General Charles Foti.
Castaing says Wednesday's ruling by District Judge Donald Johnson sets a dangerous precedent for criminal law in Louisiana.
He says it would hurt innocent witnesses who provide information they expect to be confidential, and district attorneys around the state.
The Times-Picayune and CNN sought the records. Foti's office, which opened the investigation before turning it over to Orleans Parish District Attorney Eddie Jordan Jr., also argued that at least part of the file should be public. |
