Bridge Collapse Deaths Dropped to 4; Search Continues

MINNEAPOLIS, Mn. (AP) - Hopes of finding any survivors in the Mississippi River in Minneapolis are dimming following yesterday's collapse of the interstate 35W bridge. Minneapolis Fire Chief Jim Clack says it's a recovery operation, meaning "we move slower and more deliberately." Divers have been searching the river for bodies among the submerged cars and twisted steel.

MINNEAPOLIS, Mn. (AP) -- An interstate bridge jammed with rush-hour traffic suddenly broke into huge sections and collapsed into the Mississippi River Wednesday, pitching dozens of cars 60 feet into the water and killing at least seven people.

Nike suspends Vick contract; Reebok halts sale of No. 7 jersey

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) _ Nike says it has suspended its contract with Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick and will pull goods with his name off the shelves at stores the company owns.

Meanwhile, Reebok says it will stop selling Vick's replica jersey at retail stores and through its Web site.

President Bush Wants Defense Spending Bill Before August Recess

During a speech in Philadelphia, the president urged members of Congress to "exercise their responsibility'' and send the bill to his desk. The month-long break starts in about two weeks.

NEW ORLEANS (WGSO) -- The New Orleans Zephyrs have a new player with an extensive major league background. The parent New York Mets have signed veteran infielder Marlon Anderson to a minor league contract and have assigned him to the Zephyrs. In 23 games with the Dodgers this season, the 33-year old Anderson hit .231 with a pair of RBI before being released. Anderson has played for the Mets, Dodgers, Phillies, Devil Rays, Cardinals, and Nationals in a 10-year major league career.

Man Accused of Northshore Sex Crimes

St. Tammany, LA (ABC26News) Meredith Mendez - A Pearl River man accused of sex crimes against two young girls is in the St. Tammany Jail tonight and deputies are worried there could be more victims. Sheriff Jack Strain said a tip led investigators to James Griffin's house on Highway 41.
