Residents back home as Lafayette cleanup continues LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) -- About 3,000 Lafayette residents have been allowed to return home as crews continue to clean up hydrochloric acid that spilled when six train cars rolled off the tracks.

House panel agrees to limited records exemption for governor BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) _ A House panel is backing a proposal that would greatly limit the ability of the governor and his staff to shield records from the public -- a more restrictive public records exemption than what the Jindal administration wants.

Hornets' magical season, or Spurs' defense, to end NEW ORLEANS (AP) _ Jannero Pargo spun through the air on a one-handed dunk attempt, stuffed himself on the front rim and fell backward onto the court. His New Orleans Hornets teammates buckled over in laughter.

LSU Track AUBURN, Ala. (AP) -- James Stang captured the 5,000-meter race and teammates Shawn Forest and Tyler Hill finished fourth and seventh, respectively, giving Arkansas 17 points to erase a half-point deficit as Arkansas captured the Southeastern Conference track and field championship over LSU.
